Memphis Health Center (MHC) is committed to providing high quality healthcare and building healthy and thriving communities. All patients, employees and visitors should feel welcomed, in a safe, caring, and inclusive environment, across all sites.
Our Patient Code of Conduct helps us to meet this goal. Words, actions, and behaviors that are disrespectful, racist, discriminatory, hostile, harassing, threatening, demeaning, and/or violent are not welcome and will not be tolerated.
Examples of these include:
- Offensive comments about others’ race, accent, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other personal traits
- Physical or verbal threats and assaults
- Sexual or vulgar words or actions
- Behavior that is disruptive to another patient’s care or experience
- Yelling or Profanity
- Physical displays of aggression (including touching or gestures)
- Spitting, throwing objects, or other violent behavior
- Unwanted communication to Provider or other staff member that is not related to clinical care
- Creating a hostile environment by use of words or actions
If we believe you have violated the Code of Conduct, depending on the severity, you will be asked to leave the premises immediately. Someone from Administration will contact you by phone and provide you with an opportunity to explain your point of view. We will always carefully consider your response before we make any decisions about your future care at MHC. Some violations of this Code may lead to patients being asked to make other plans for their future care. Threats of physical harm or actual acts of physical violence will result in immediate termination as a patient of MHC.
