The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing radiographic (x-ray) procedures to patients for diagnostic and therapeutic purpose as directed and according to established standards and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

v Perform all requested x-ray procedures as ordered by the Provider.

v Produce x-ray films (radiographs) of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems.

v Monitor and evaluates technical aspects of equipment each day, against department criteria.

v Assist in daily quality control monitoring.

v Review patient’s appointment schedule each day to present unnecessary delays.

v Assemble all required equipment and supplies for scheduled room and prepares to perform procedures within five minutes of the daily start time.

v Maintain cleanliness and orderliness at all times. Clean/store supplies and equipment, and remove dirty linen by the end of the workday.

v Prepare patient for radiology.

v Coordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.

v Address problems of patient care as they arise and make decisions to appropriately resolve the problem.

v Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the area/department.

v Report equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.

v Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

v Perform clerical duties such as scheduling exams and special procedures, keeping records and archiving images.

v Determine whether the scope of the exam should be extended, based on findings.

v Process and code film from procedures and complete appropriate documentation.

v Obtain and record accurate patient history, including prior test results and information from physical examinations.

v Observe and care for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort.

v Order and restock radiology supplies.

v Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

v Graduate of an AMA approved program in Radiology Technology.

v Registered or registry eligible in Radiologic Technology.

v Must have 1-3 years of experience as an x-ray technologist in a healthcare setting and a thorough knowledge of current technologist practices.

v Certified in Basic Life Support.
