Lobby 3-D Cut Away
Nurse Station Perspective
MHC’s 26,000 square foot Crump Boulevard clinic site, originally built in 1974, is undergoing construction to renovate and expand. The aging facility has never been fully renovated during its 39 year lifetime and the tremendous volume of patients that pass through the facility on a daily basis has taken a severe toll on the clinic’s current condition.
Plans call for a complete overhaul of the site’s driveways, parking, exterior shell, signage, and furniture. The project’s goal is to improve the patient experience from arrival onsite to departure. This will be accomplished by centralizing front desk locations and nursing stations, upgrading HVAC and electrical systems, enhancing security and access control systems, and more efficient layout of exam areas into pods. Patient exam rooms will be modernized with special program and social service offices situated conveniently to the main lobby minimizing congestion and traffic through patient care areas.
A 5,000 square foot expansion will provide sufficient space to add 2 full-time providers increasing patient access by an additional 9,000 encounters annually. X-ray equipment will be upgraded to digital formats and medical and dental equipment will be modernized.
This is the largest capital project ever undertaken by MHC and we need help from the entire community to make its completion a reality. The $5.6 million project will take 14 months to complete with ground breaking beginning on October 24th, 2013.
The initiative received significant federal support in the form of a $4.7 million grant award provided by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) in May of 2012. MHC will contribute $400,000 in retained earnings toward construction and C.B. Richard Ellis, the Project Manager, has pledged a $30,000 donation in support. The remaining balance is sought from private grants as well as individual and business donations. No amount of support is too small or too large. MHC is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.
